Azael Confirms Cancellation of LCS Walkout Episode Due to ‘Concerns’

The Dive Episode Cancelled Amidst Discussions Between Riot Games and LCSPA

The latest episode of The Dive, a weekly podcast hosted by multiple LCS broadcast members, will not be released due to ongoing discussions between Riot Games and the LCS Players Association (LCSPA). Concerns have been raised that the conversations on The Dive could negatively impact these discussions.

Concerns of Interference with Discussions

Isaac “Azael” Cummings-Bentley, the host and LCS shoutcaster, confirmed on June 1 that the episode will not be released as Riot continues its discussions with the LCSPA. The aim is to avoid any potential interference or impact on these ongoing discussions.

About The Dive

The Dive is a weekly podcast hosted by various North American casters and LCS broadcast members, including Azael, Kobe, and more.

LCSPA Walkout and its Effect on LCS

The LCS Players Association staged a walkout on May 28 in response to Riot’s decision to remove the requirement for LCS organizations to participate in the NA Challenger League, the second tier of North American League of Legends. This has resulted in Riot postponing the start of the 2023 Summer Split by two weeks as negotiations continue between the LCSPA and Riot. If a consensus cannot be reached, the Summer Split may be cancelled.

This issue has become a prominent topic within the League of Legends esports community. Thus, it’s understandable that The Dive would focus on the players’ walkout, Riot’s response, and the potential outcomes of this situation.

However, due to the sensitivity of the matter, Riot aims to tone down discussions until they can sit down with the LCSPA and have a proper conversation about the future of North American competition.

The outcome of these discussions remains uncertain, as there have been limited updates since talks were announced on May 30. Whether the North American League season will resume is yet to be seen.
