Astralis breaks two of the longest streaks in 2022 LEC Spring Split with victory over Rogue

The 2022 LEC Spring Split: Astralis Shocks Rogue with Upset Victory

The second half of the 2022 LEC Spring Split has been relatively predictable, with few upsets. However, that changed when Astralis, a team that many expected to remain undefeated, suffered a surprising defeat against the last-place team, ending their nine-game winning streak. This unexpected turn of events has shaken up the standings and injected new excitement into the competition.

In a game that will go down in LEC history, Astralis put an end to their losing streak and halted Rogue’s winning streak in the fifth week of the Spring Split. Right from the start, Astralis demonstrated their determination to maintain their lead and prevent Rogue from making a comeback. This victory marks a groundbreaking moment for Astralis, who finally found their footing and delivered an impressive performance.

Rogue, possibly underestimating their opponent and feeling overconfident, made questionable draft choices for this game. Larssen introduced the newly-reworked Ahri to the Rift, a surprise pick for this split. Janna also made an appearance but was utilized by Trymbi in the bot lane instead of the top lane. Unfortunately for Rogue, this composition lacked sustain and engagement, giving Astralis the advantage in team fights.

Notably, this game also marked Zeri’s first win in the LEC since her release a few weeks ago. Zeri, a relatively overlooked pick in the region, had a significant impact on the game. Kobbe, in particular, showcased his skills with Zeri, boasting an impressive KDA of 14.0 and displaying both immense damage and exceptional movement speed.

Astralis as a whole seized this opportunity to shine individually and as a team. Rookie Dajor secured his first victory with an outstanding performance on Vex, going 9/1/8. This win not only gives Astralis their first victory in the 2022 Spring Split but also serves as a milestone for Dajor’s career.

Although Astralis remains in last place in the LEC standings, this upset victory over Rogue has undoubtedly fueled their momentum for the final three weeks of the competition. With renewed confidence, Astralis aims to make further waves and potentially climb the ranks.
