Aphelios sets new ban rate record with 223% on Korean League ladder

The Power of Aphelios: Breaking Records in Korean Solo Queue

The newest addition to the League of Legends roster, Aphelios, may just be a bit too strong. In the past week, Aphelios has received a staggering 223 percent ban rate in Korean solo queue, according to stats site fow.kr. This breaks records and shows just how dominant he has become.

Typically, the maximum possible ban rate is 200 percent, meaning both teams ban a champion 100 percent of the time. However, due to remakes being included in the ban rate calculation, Aphelios’ ban rate has exceeded this expectation.

Aphelios’ ban rate far surpasses the second most banned champion in Korea, Akali, who has a ban rate of 174 percent. It’s clear that players in the Korean solo queue see Aphelios as a major threat.

It’s difficult to gauge Aphelios’ power level compared to other champions in the bot lane, as he is still relatively new and has not yet been played in a competitive environment. Both Aphelios and Diana were disabled in the recent Korean KeSPA cup, and he has had limited opportunities to shine in solo queue.

However, Riot Games is already set on nerfing Aphelios before the release of season 10. In patch 10.1, which arrives later this week, Aphelios will receive nerfs to his movement speed, base health, and ultimate ability. These changes aim to bring him into a more balanced position and address his dominating presence.

It’s worth noting that Riot recently nerfed Aphelios’ abilities and reduced his late-game damage. Despite this, he continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the game.
