Annie and Nautilus Set to Receive VFX Updates in League of Legends

Thresh’s VFX update has been released in Patch 10.1 of League of Legends. Now, two more champions, Annie and Nautilus, will be receiving VFX updates in Patch 10.3. In a recent Dev Corner post, Riot artist Kevin “Sirhaian” Leroy announced that these updates will ensure that the ability effects of these veteran champions age properly. But before the release, the developers will be collecting feedback from League fans through the Public Beta Environment (PBE).

Changes to Annie:
– Passive: Cleaned up Passive indicator and added a Passive hit overlay on stunned enemies.
– Basic attack: New missiles and hits.
– Q: New missiles, hits, and a small cast effect.
– W: New cone AoE that matches the hitbox, added hit effect, and a new UI QuickCast indicator.
– E: Added ripples effect for damage reduction shields, modernized the effect, and Annie now burns the ground under her.
– R: New cast effect that better represents its hitbox, new idle effects on Tibbers, and a fire effect around Tibbers to indicate AoE damage range.
– Idle effects: Modernized idle fire effect.

Skin changes for Annie:
– All skins: Cleaned up and matched base changes.
– Goth Annie: Recolored from base.
– Annie in Wonderland: Now has Legendary-tier VFXs, new Recall and Dance VFXs to give it a Wonderland-y, dreamy, and magical feel.
– Frostfire Annie: Recolored from base.
– Panda Annie: Cleaned up and matched base changes.
– Hextech Annie: Improved W to better represent the hitbox, some cleanup, and matched base changes.
– Super Galaxy Annie: Cleaned up and matched base changes.
– Annie-versary: Matched base changes.

Known issues or things to add for Annie:
– Add trails on Tibbers attacks for better impacts.
– Add vertical motion on all Tibbers casts.
– Annie in Wonderland E shrooms feel too popcorny.
– Fix Tibbers ground enrage buff (for now it’s spawning orange dots on all skins).
– Panda Annie’s Q hit effect lasts for too long.
– Add ripples to all Tibbers E shields.

Now let’s move on to the changes for Nautilus:

Changes to Nautilus:
– Passive: New root and hit effect.
– Basic attack: Trails added to all attacks and new impacts.
– Q: New Q missile that represents the actual hitbox, and slight adjustments to UI QuickCast arrow.
– W: Some cleanup, new shield effect, removed floating anchor from DoT in favor of a subtle dark ray of light, and a new AoE hit effect reflecting the actual size of the AoE.
– E: Minor cleanup.
– R: Adjusted explosion sizes to match hitbox, and added a new indicator on the target to reflect the actual hitbox of the approaching charge.

Skin changes for Nautilus:
– All skins: Cleaned up and matched base changes.
– Astronautilus: Cleaned up, matched base changes, and added new VFXs throughout the kit with more asteroids, stars, and space elements.

These updates for Annie and Nautilus will be hitting the PBE soon, and Riot is eager to receive feedback from the community. Stay tuned for the official release in Patch 10.3!
