Riot recently released a new edition of Champion Roadmap in August, which is a series of articles that highlight upcoming reworks, updates, and champions in League of Legends. This edition hinted at a new champion without providing many details, sparking speculation within the community.
Although Riot has remained silent about this new champion, there are a few major champion updates planned before its release. However, a leak was shared on Reddit in late December, revealing potential details about its design.

Sylas, or not
There is a possibility that Riot may have revealed the new champion in a short story called “Demacian Heart” prior to the image teasers. The story revolves around a mage named Sylas who assists Demacia in hunting down and eliminating fellow mages. However, Sylas discovers his own immense power and commits a tragic act, resulting in him becoming a fugitive. It’s unclear whether Sylas is the new champion or if his story simply sets the stage for a different villain who aims to dismantle the corruption in Demacia.
Demacian villain
Riot released another teaser on Universe, League’s official lore platform, showcasing the upcoming top laner. The teaser features the new champion sitting on the Demacian throne with other Demacian champions chained up. This hints at their involvement in the current lore. However, it is unlikely that this champion is part of Demacian royalty, as those who are chained up are either royalty or closely related to the throne. This suggests that the new champion is an enemy of Demacia. While some may assume the champion to be Noxian, there is no Noxian imagery in the teaser. It is more likely that this champion is a Demacian criminal or a super villain.
Chained-up top laner
A leak on the League Reddit community outlined upcoming skins, including the new champion. According to the leak, the champion is a top laner with chains. Its Q ability allows it to whip a target into the air and toss them a short distance. The ultimate ability is an AoE flip, similar to Gnar’s ultimate, but in the form of a flip. However, this information is leaked and unconfirmed.
