All League of Legends Players at Worlds 2022 Successfully Complete COVID Protocols, Ready to Compete On-Stage During Tournament’s Second Day

Cleared Players Compete Live on Day 2 of League of Legends Worlds 2022

All players participating in the 2022 League of Legends World Championship have received clearance to compete live from the official stage, announced Riot Games today.

On the opening day of Worlds, players were competing from isolated rooms as a precaution against COVID-19. Due to positive test results, teams had to field segmented lineups with empty seats on the stage.

If players feel well enough despite positive test results, they can compete over a LAN network, according to Riot.

Yesterday, Fnatic had to use a substitute since support player Hylissang was not cleared to play. However, he will return and compete from the stage today.

COVID-related delays extended the already-long slate of games on the first day of Worlds. It took players nearly an hour to coordinate their setups from a nearby hotel with the pros competing at the venue. However, with all players present at the Arena Esports Stadium in Mexico City, delays should be minimized today.

The second day of Worlds 2022 begins at 3pm CT with the match between Fnatic and DetonatioN FocusMe.
