Akshan embarks on a quest to find the memory of his fallen Sentinel mentor in the newest League of Legends short story

Akshan: A New Champion with an Intriguing Backstory

League of Legends players are still grappling with the introduction of the game’s latest champion, Akshan. While fans are busy testing him out on Summoner’s Rift, Riot Games has released a new short story that offers a glimpse into the lore behind this Rogue Sentinel.

Exploring Akshan’s Journey

Titled “In Search of Things Lost,” the story follows Akshan as he navigates the aftermath of his beloved mentor, Shadya’s, death. He is plagued by the fading memories of his teacher, desperately clinging to her image through a drawing. But even with this memento, Shadya continues to slip away.

In the present, Akshan embarks on a quest to track down a young homeless girl who possesses an expensive pearl bracelet, previously belonging to his mentor. Confronting her, Akshan learns that she stole the bracelet from someone who wouldn’t notice, yet she fears revealing their name due to potential repercussions.

Uncovering the Truth

Akshan soon realizes that the girl’s motivation is purely survival—it’s a valuable item she intends to sell. Empathizing with her circumstances, he confides in her about the sentimental value the bracelet holds as one of the few remnants of Shadya. Ultimately, she discloses that the Devil of the Dunes, a warlord, took all of Shadya’s jewelry, paying her with the stolen bracelet after she cleaned his stables.

With this newfound information, Akshan infiltrates the warlord’s palace, discovering his sleeping figure alongside the rest of Shadya’s jewelry. He confronts the warlord, questioning if he’s responsible for his mentor’s demise. Although the warlord denies the accusation, Akshan decides to eliminate him, believing the world would be a better place without such a cruel individual.

Reflection and Redemption

In the aftermath, Akshan realizes the selfishness behind his actions and the lack of solace his revenge brings. As he examines one of the bracelets, he reads the inscription, “Give all, and all may live.” These words resonate with him, compelling him to return to the homeless girl and give her the jewelry to sell. With this selfless act, Akshan feels the return of Shadya’s memory, bringing warmth to his heart.
