Afreeca Freecs Release Majority of Roster Before 2021 LCK Season

Afreeca Freecs Announces Roster Changes Ahead of LCK Season

Afreeca Freecs, a professional esports organization, has revealed that it will be parting ways with several members of its League of Legends roster for the upcoming franchised LCK season.

The departing players include Lee “Spirit” Da-yon, Jin “Mystic” Seong-jun, Nam “Ben” Dong-hyun, Kim “ALL IN” Tae-yang, Seo “SS” Jin-sol, and Son “Jelly” Ho-gyeong.

The organization has also announced the extension of the contract for jungler Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok for another year, following his outstanding performance in the previous split.

The remaining players on Afreeca’s roster are Kim “Kiin” Gi-in in the top lane, Song “Fly” Yong-jun in the mid lane, and Dread in the jungle. However, the team still needs to find a suitable bot lane player for the upcoming season.

Afreeca had a challenging year in 2020, finishing sixth in the Spring Split and fifth in the Summer Split. Although they qualified for playoffs, they were eliminated in the second round by Gen.G. Despite this, they earned enough Championship Points to compete in the Regional Gauntlet, where they were knocked out by T1.

With a more solid supporting cast, Kiin has the potential to thrive as one of the best top laners in the LCK. If Afreeca manages to secure a strong bot lane, they could be a contender for a top-three spot in the league.
