Afreeca Freecs halt SK Telecom T1’s four-match winning run

Afreeca Freecs Secure Impressive Victory over SK Telecom T1 in LCK Spring Split

Afreeca Freecs continued their climb up the LCK Spring Split standings with a remarkable win against SK Telecom T1. Unafraid of the three-time world champions SKT, Afreeca decided to start the series with their reserve jungler Lee “Mowgli” Jae-ha and reserve AD carry Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram. Fortunately, this bold strategy paid off.

In game one, Afreeca secured Galio and completely dominated SKT with this powerful mid laner. Their smartly executed teamfight almost wiped out SKT, allowing them to secure the Baron buff as a reward. With the Baron buff, Afreeca easily extended their lead. SKT’s jungler Park “Blossom” Beom-chan, playing Skarner, could only target tanks since both of Afreeca’s AD carry and support purchased quicksilver sashes. With Blossom unable to make any successful picks, SKT lost the game without a single kill.

Game two saw SKT getting their hands on Galio, and just like Afreeca did in game one, SKT made excellent use of the champion’s crowd control abilities and high damage output. SKT mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok had an exceptional performance on Galio, leading SKT to victory in teamfights. Game two followed a similar pattern to game one, but this time it was SKT who gained momentum.

For game three, Afreeca brought in their full-strength starting lineup. With Galio wisely banned, Afreeca was able to outplay SKT with standard gameplay. SKT, without Galio, struggled to match Afreeca’s macro play and ended up losing all non-tower map objectives. Apart from a few instances where their players fell victim to Blossom’s Skarner, Afreeca secured a relatively mistake-free victory in game three.

With the sixth week of play completed for the LCK Spring Split, Afreeca won’t return to the LCK stage until March 8th when they face ROX Tigers.
