Afreeca Freecs break three-game losing streak by defeating SANDBOX Gaming.

Afreeca Freecs Ends Losing Streak with a Victory Against SANDBOX Gaming

In a much-needed win, Afreeca Freecs defeated the second-place team in the LCK, SANDBOX Gaming, ending their three-game losing streak. The victory comes as a relief for the team, as they have been facing unexpected hardships throughout the 2019 season.

Shift in Lineup Leads to Success

In today’s match against SANDBOX Gaming, Afreeca Freecs made some changes to their lineup, starting with their original roster and bringing in Son “Jelly” Ho-gyeong as support. This decision proved to be successful as they secured a comeback 2-1 victory against SANDBOX.

Early Game Advantage and Top Lane Focus

Afreeca Freecs managed to gain early leads in all three games, with a specific focus on their top laner, Kim “Kiin” Gi-in. Jungler Lee “Dread” Jin-hyeok and mid laner Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon provided constant support to Kiin, helping him get ahead of SANDBOX’s top laner and former teammate, Park “Summit” Woo-tae.

Struggles with Objective Transitions

Despite their early game leads, Afreeca Freecs has struggled to transition those leads into objectives throughout the season. However, they showed improvement in this aspect during the match against SANDBOX, taking more turrets and Elemental Drakes as the series progressed. The highlight of their adaptation was an impressive engage onto SANDBOX behind the Baron pit in game three, which allowed them to secure the Baron and start closing out the first half of the LCK 2019 Spring Split.

Afreeca Freecs now sits in seventh place after their recent victory. Their main focus is to avoid relegation and improve their performance. They also have the goal of reaching fifth place to qualify for the playoffs. Their next match will be against fourth-place Hanwha Life Esports on Feb. 24.
