A less-traditional League of Legends champion reigns in bronze – Mid lane domination

Garen Dominates the Mid Lane in League of Legends

In the lower ranks of League of Legends, unconventional picks are starting to shine. Patch 13.16 has introduced Garen as the top-performing mid laner.

According to League stats site U.GG, players in the Bronze rank are finding great success with Garen, who currently holds an impressive 54.19 percent win rate in the mid lane.

This is particularly surprising because Garen is known to be a simple champion with many counters. However, Bronze players are proving that he can be a force to be reckoned with.

In my experience, lower-ranked junglers tend to gank the mid lane frequently, which may explain why Garen players in Bronze are able to snowball their leads early on and carry the game aggressively.

Garen’s dominance is not limited to the mid lane, as he also boasts a solid 52.95 percent win rate in his original position at the top lane.

Meta and Off-Meta Mid Lane Picks

While Garen is considered an off-meta pick for the mid lane, there are also other champions in the meta who are performing well. Naafiri and Swain, for example, have the second and third highest win rates respectively in Patch 13.16.

It’s worth noting that the dynamics of the mid lane may change with the upcoming release of Patch 13.17 on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

Stay tuned to see how Garen and other champions continue to perform in League of Legends’ ever-evolving meta.
