A Legendary ADC Item Emerges as the Next Must-Have for LoL Mid Laners—But Not for Long

Statikk Shiv Becomes a Powerhouse Item in League of Legends

Since its return to League of Legends in May, Statikk Shiv has become one of the most powerful items in the game. However, it is no longer limited to AD carry champions. Mid laners like LeBlanc, Azir, and Annie are now building the item first due to its exceptional wave-clearing ability.

The Power of Statikk Shiv

In its current form, Statikk Shiv generates energize stacks from movement and basic attacks. When fully charged, the player’s next basic attack deals bonus magic damage and bounces to the closest target within 500 units, hitting up to 12 targets at maximum rank. This effect is significantly increased against minions, making it ideal for wave clear.

As a result, mid laners are buying Statikk Shiv as their first item to quickly clear waves with a single spell and auto attack. This allows them to freely roam to side lanes. In the late game, mid laners become powerful backdoor threats, easily pushing out lanes with Statikk Shiv and forcing enemies to defend their base.

Benefits for Mid Laners

Statikk Shiv’s passive scales through AP, making it a viable choice for mid laners without any drawbacks. It provides significant advantages in lane and hybrid marksmen like Kai’Sa also benefit from its AD and AP stats, enhancing their wave-clearing potential.

Nerfs Incoming in Patch 13.13

Riot Games is planning significant nerfs for Statikk Shiv in Patch 13.13. The minion damage AP ratio will be reduced by 40 percent to prevent players from easily one-shotting waves without expending more mana and abilities. Dash abilities will also be targeted, making it harder to stack energize charges. This change will lower the frequency of the item’s activation for champions with high mobility.

League Patch 13.13 is scheduled to release on Wednesday, June 28.
