A clever League of Legends player discovers the incredible potential of CDR Thresh build

Thresh’s Cooldown Reduction Build Makes Him a Crowd Control Monster

Some champions in League of Legends have incredible potential when built differently, and Thresh is one of them. By going for a cooldown reduction build, Thresh becomes a force to be reckoned with.

A player on the League subreddit recently shared a short clip of their own Thresh game, where they were able to continuously lock down the enemy Renekton with a crowd control chain. They did this by spamming Thresh’s Death Sentence (Q) and Flay (E) abilities.

If you want to see the clip, you can check it out on the League subreddit here.

But the benefits of this build go beyond just shorter cooldowns. Thresh is also able to deal considerable damage with his abilities. Even against bruiser-like champions like Renekton, Thresh can pack a punch.

According to the player, their main rune choice for this build was Glacial Augment, which is the optimal option for aggressive supports. As for items, they built Ionian Boots of Lucidity, Shurelya’s Battlesong, and Zeke’s Convergence, all of which provide ability haste. The player also mentioned that the rest of the items didn’t matter as much.

While this build may lack some of the utility expected from a support champion, it more than makes up for it with its deadly crowd control. If you’re able to consistently hook enemies every two seconds, it becomes nearly impossible for them to counter Thresh.

It’s worth noting that Thresh’s Q ability has its cooldown shortened by two seconds if he lands it, making a full cooldown reduction build even more appealing. However, it’s unlikely that we’ll see this build too often in solo queue.
