2022 LPL Spring Split playoffs delayed due to ‘ongoing Covid circumstances’

2022 LPL Spring Split Playoffs Rescheduled Due to COVID-19 Concerns in China

The 2022 LPL Spring Split playoffs have been rescheduled due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns in China, the league revealed today via social media.

The LPL made the decision to protect the health and safety of players, coaches, team personnel, and staff. The original playoffs schedule has been postponed until April 8th and onwards, with the games being played remotely.

The final of the split, which was originally scheduled for April 10, is now set to take place on a date that will be announced later by Riot.

According to LPL English caster Joe “Munchables” Fenny, the competition is rescheduling games planned for April due to a lockdown in Shanghai. However, the three remaining matches scheduled for March will proceed as intended.

The LPL is not the only professional competition affected by the lockdown in Shanghai and the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in China. The Chinese Dota Pro Circuit has also gone on pause for the same reasons.

The lockdown in Shanghai is a measure taken by the Chinese city to control the COVID-19 outbreak, as reported by CNBC.
