The Lock-In tournament: Groups Revealed for the 2022 LCS Season

The Lock-In tournament is back to kick-start the 2022 season of the LCS. Just like last year, the 10 LCS teams will be split into two groups of five. Let’s take a look at the official lineup for each group:

Lock-In tournament groups

Group A consists of the 2021 LCS champions 100 Thieves, Cloud9, TSM, Golden Guardians, and FlyQuest. Representing Group B are Team Liquid, Evil Geniuses, Immortals, CLG, and Dignitas.

Teams will compete against each other in their respective groups in a round-robin format. Each team will face every other team once. The top four teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, where they’ll face off against teams from the opposite group until one team emerges victorious. While the Lock-In tournament doesn’t affect the regular 2022 Spring Split, the winning team will receive a prize of $150,000.

This tournament will serve as the first introduction to the new rosters of the teams for both League of Legends fans and players. Notable players such as Bwipo, Inspired, and Hans sama will be making their North American debuts, while veterans like Olleh and Bjergsen will be returning to the stage after a hiatus. This tournament also provides a platform for the newest LCS rookies, including Jojopyun and Luger, to showcase their skills against a highly competitive field.

The 2022 LCS Lock-In tournament will start on January 14 and conclude on January 30 with a LAN final at the LCS Studios. The official 2022 Spring Split will begin shortly after.
