2021 Summer Split preseason: LEC teams ranked

LEC Power Rankings for the 2021 Summer Split

The LEC is set to resume action after a short offseason between the Spring and Summer Splits. The league has seen significant changes since the last season, with teams making roster moves and players swapping positions. This has created a lot of excitement for the upcoming Summer Split.

History in the Making

In the spring, MAD Lions made history by becoming the first team other than Fnatic or G2 Esports to win an LEC title in six years. Now, they will defend their title as the new kings of Europe, while the rest of the league aims to dethrone them.

LEC Power Rankings

We asked our writers to rank the 10 LEC teams heading into the second half of the season. Here are the current power rankings:

RankTeamPoints
1)MAD Lions39
2)G2 Esports38
3)Rogue32
4)Team Vitality26
5)Fnatic23
6)SK Gaming20
7)Misfits19
8)Schalke 0413
9)Excel Esports8
10)Astralis4

Expectations for Excel Esports and Astralis

Excel Esports and Astralis are likely to deliver similar performances as in the past. Excel Esports made changes to their roster, but the results have been underwhelming. Nukeduck brings consistency to the mid lane, but the team hasn’t found success yet. On the other hand, Astralis remains at the bottom of the standings, relying on their star players to guide them through another challenging split.

Potential Surprises: Misfits and Schalke 04

Misfits and Schalke 04 face an uphill battle, with the top three teams dominating the rankings. However, Misfits showed promise in the Spring Split, coming close to securing a playoff spot. With their early schedule against Fnatic and SK Gaming, Misfits could take advantage of their opponents’ uncertainties and secure some wins. Schalke 04, on the other hand, will need their star players to step up for a chance at making the playoffs.

Rediscovering Themselves: Team Vitality, Fnatic, SK Gaming

Team Vitality, Fnatic, and SK Gaming have talented rosters that can either excel or struggle this Summer Split. Fnatic will have to adapt to a new top laner and a role swap for Bwipo, while Team Vitality’s revamped roster brings explosive potential but with a learning curve. SK Gaming will experience a playstyle shift with Treatz as their new jungle and Jesiz moving to support. These teams will face challenges but must remain resilient to succeed.

The LEC’s Powerhouses: MAD Lions, G2 Esports, Rogue

The top teams in the LEC, MAD Lions, G2 Esports, and Rogue, have impressive rosters and high expectations for the Summer Split. MAD Lions showed great improvement at MSI 2021, giving the world champions a tough fight. Rogue aims to prove they’re more than just a second-place team. G2 Esports, once the undisputed kings of Europe, must regain their form to secure a spot at Worlds.
