2020 Season of League of Legends Begins on Jan. 10

New Season of League of Legends Begins Soon

The pre-season of League of Legends is coming to an end, and season 10 is set to start on January 10th.

The official Twitter account of the game has released new images, hinting at what players can expect in the new season. One of the images seems to be a teaser for the new cinematic video, featuring Urgot reaching out with chains. The caption on the image says, “In 5 days, we break them.”

The ranked system will reset at the beginning of the season, but it won’t be a complete reset. Player rankings will consider their performance in both placement matches and games played during the pre-season. After a series of placement matches, players will receive their starting rank for season 10.

Similar to season nine, players will receive a provisional rank after their first ranked game of the season. LP (League Points) will be earned for wins during placement matches, but losses will not subtract from the score. Once players complete eight placement matches, their rank will become visible.

Patch 10.1 will be released on January 8th, just two days before the start of the 2020 season. This patch will introduce Sett, the newest powerhouse champion in League of Legends. In addition, new skins, including the Mecha Kingdom skins, will be available with this patch.
