100 Thieves Strikes Deal to Acquire Closer and FBI from Golden Guardians, Reports Say

100 Thieves Reportedly Acquire Closer and FBI from Golden Guardians

According to the renowned League of Legends reporter Travis Gafford, 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians have reached a verbal agreement to buy out the contracts of jungler Closer and AD carry FBI. The deal, however, will not take effect until the LCS free agent market opens on Nov. 16 at 6pm CT. Despite that, both organizations are ready to proceed with the exchange. The exact amount of money exchanged for the buyout process remains undisclosed.

Golden Guardians Faces Open Gaps Heading into Offseason

Golden Guardians will have several open gaps in their roster for the upcoming offseason with the departure of FBI and Closer to 100 Thieves. Additionally, top laner Hauntzer will also become a free agent. These moves are surprising considering Golden Guardians’ tie for fifth place in the LCS Summer playoffs this year. Instead of building on their solid foundation, the organization has chosen to start fresh in 2021.

Boost for 100 Thieves’ Starting Lineup

100 Thieves’ starting lineup is set to receive a much-needed boost after a challenging year in 2020. Following the departure of veteran AD carry Cody Sun, it is expected that FBI will fill his position on the roster. With the addition of two young players for the 2021 season, the team’s focus will shift towards the development of talented players with high potential.

The global free agency market for League of Legends opens completely on Nov. 16.
