100 Thieves secure spot in LCS Championship Grand Final with 3-1 win against Cloud9

100 Thieves Advances to LCS Grand Finals and Worlds Group Stage

100 Thieves secured their spot in the Grand Finals of the LCS postseason and the Group Stage of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship with a decisive 3-1 victory over Cloud9. This win guarantees 100 Thieves a place as a Pool Two team at Worlds. If they manage to defeat Team Liquid in the Grand Final, they will enter Worlds as a Pool One team alongside champions from major regions like China, Korea, and Europe.

Impressive Victory Over Cloud9

The second game of the series between 100 Thieves and Cloud9 was a back-and-forth affair that lasted 49 minutes, making it one of the longest games of the LCS season. Despite not holding the gold lead at any point during the game, 100 Thieves still emerged victorious. Cloud9 had the advantage in categories like gold, kills, and objectives, but 100 Thieves found a way to secure the win. This pattern repeated throughout the series, explaining why Cloud9 struggled to maintain any advantage over 100 Thieves.

Key Player: FBI’s Stellar Performance

In order to continue their momentum and compete against a strong Team Liquid squad, 100 Thieves will rely on the stellar performance of their bottom lane. FBI, the team’s ADC, proved to be a decisive factor in the team’s victories, with an impressive scoreline of 19/3/14 across the three games they won.

Cloud9 Headed to Play-in Stage, Team Liquid Avoids Play-ins

As a result of their loss to 100 Thieves, Cloud9 will now have to play through the Play-in Stage of the World Championship later this year. They join Rogue from the LEC as one of the teams from the Western regions to secure their place in the Play-ins. On the other hand, Team Liquid secured their spot in the Group Stage by defeating both Cloud9 and 100 Thieves in earlier rounds of the postseason.

The highly anticipated 2021 LCS Championship Grand Finals between Team Liquid and 100 Thieves will take place tomorrow, August 29, at 3pm CT.
