10 Champions to Receive Nerfs in League Patch 13.2, Featuring Yuumi, Lucian, and Kassadin

League of Legends Patch 13.2: Changes Coming to Champions and Items

The new season of League of Legends brings with it a wave of changes to the game’s balance. Riot is introducing new mythic items and class-wide adjustments in Patch 13.2 in an effort to improve the overall health of the game.

In a tweet, lead League balance team designer Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison shared a preliminary list of champions, systems, and items that will be modified in the upcoming January patch.

The champions that will undergo changes include Kassadin, Yuumi, Maokai, Gangplank, Ryze, Lucian, Heimerdinger, Udyr, Kindred, and Nami.

In this patch, Riot is shaking up various systems such as fighter items, ADC satisfaction adjustments, and making Grievous Wounds more impactful as a reactionary purchase. They’re also preemptive nerfing champions like Kindred and Gangplank, who will become overpowered due to the upcoming Critical Strike changes.

The changes affect Infinity Edge and Navori Quickblades, both of which have a threshold of 60% Critical Strike chance. Once that threshold is reached, Infinity Edge gives 35% Critical Strike damage to users while Navori Quickblades allow basic attacks to reduce basic abilities’ current cooldown. However, in Patch 13.2, these thresholds will be lowered to just 40% Critical Strike chance.

Crit-focused champions like Kindred and Gangplank will be tuned down slightly as a result, giving AD carries an early power spike to counter tank champions in Season 13.

Furthermore, the return of Rod of Ages has led to the dominance of champions like Kassadin and Ryze in professional play. Heimerdinger support has also gained popularity, along with other champions like Lux, Lulu, Karma, Nami, and Jhin, who excel in damage-heavy lanes rather than engage supports.

Lucian and Nami will receive nerfs as well, with Lucian’s power likely being decreased due to the buffs in crit items, which he frequently builds. Maokai, an AP bruiser, is also performing strongly in multiple roles and will be adjusted.

League Patch 13.2 is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
