League of Legends introduces Little Legends to additional game modes

Riot Plans to Bring Little Legends to Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss in League of Legends

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, is considering bringing Little Legends, the animated avatars from its new autobattler game mode Teamfight Tactics (TFT), to Summoner’s Rift and Howling Abyss. This was revealed by Andrei “Meddler” van Roon, the design director of League of Legends, in a post on the game’s boards.

The decision to bring Little Legends to these game modes is aimed at enhancing player experience. However, Riot Games is cautious about potentially damaging combat clarity by introducing additional units into the game. They want to ensure that the presence of Little Legends does not make battles harder to follow.

For ARAM games, Riot has already implemented a behavior for Little Legends where they show up but stay away from the main action. They remain visible but avoid combat areas, and if an enemy champion gets too close, they run towards the Nexus. This approach allows players to enjoy the presence of Little Legends without affecting gameplay.

At present, there are six Little Legends available: Hauntling, Silverwing, Furyhorn, Molediver, Runespirit, and Featherknight. These avatars are purely cosmetic and do not have any impact on gameplay.

Riot Games plans to observe how the implementation of Little Legends in ARAM games goes and further refine their approach. They will then explore the possibility of introducing Little Legends into Summoner’s Rift games, taking lessons from ARAM and potentially using other techniques as well.

Although the specific date for these plans has not been announced, it is expected that Little Legends could be added to Howling Abyss and potentially to Summoner’s Rift in upcoming patches.
