The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) announced its support for leading Arabic mobile games publisher Tamatem Games as it moves its headquarters to Abu Dhabi. This move will contribute to Tamatem Games’s growth and strengthen the Emirate’s gaming ecosystem.

Abu Dhabi currently has more than 70 content creators in the gaming industry, and ADIO aims to enhance this ecosystem through strategic partnerships in line with Abu Dhabi’s focus on innovation and technology. ADIO has recently partnered with Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video gaming companies involved in the development, publishing, and distribution of games for consoles, PCs, and mobile devices.

ADIO is providing support for growth, including assistance in setting up operations, connecting with the Abu Dhabi ecosystem, and exploring international trade opportunities.

Badr Al-Olama, Director General of ADIO, stated, “Abu Dhabi is becoming a global destination for technology and design expertise in the wider region. This is particularly evident in the gaming sector, where Abu Dhabi is establishing itself as a hub for developers, publishers, and top talent. Our collaboration with global leaders in the gaming industry further strengthens this growing ecosystem and allows us to support the growth of Arabic content games from Abu Dhabi.”

Tamatem Games specializes in developing culturally relevant and localized games for the Arabic-speaking gaming community. The company has a diverse portfolio of over 50 games with 150 million downloads. Through its collaboration with ADIO, Tamatem Games plans to establish a center of excellence in Abu Dhabi. It will become part of a growing ecosystem that aims to establish the region as a hub for e-gaming and currently represents the largest community of gaming companies in the region. The company intends to hire more than 40 gaming specialists in Abu Dhabi and closely collaborate with local universities to offer internship and training opportunities.

Hussam Hammo, CEO of Tamatem Games, expressed excitement about choosing Abu Dhabi as their strategic partner for growth and innovation. He believes this expansion will allow Tamatem Games to reach new heights and make a lasting impact on the global gaming landscape, thanks to Abu Dhabi’s dynamic ecosystem and commitment to nurturing talent.

The gaming industry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is projected to generate USD 6 billion in revenues by 2027. The combined gaming markets of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are expected to exceed USD 3 billion in revenues by 2025.
