Denmark’s Gambling Spend Sees an 18.3% Increase in February 2024
The gambling industry in Denmark continues to flourish as Spillemyndigheden, the country’s gambling regulator, recently reported a significant increase in gambling spend for February 2024. The total amount of money spent on betting, online casino, gaming machines, and land-based casino reached DKK 587 million during this period, representing a substantial 18.3% surge compared to February 2023.
Contributing Factors to the Growth
This prominent surge in gambling spend can be attributed to the considerable increases observed in all four major gambling categories. In particular, the spending on betting witnessed a remarkable rise of 32.5%. This surge in betting activity is believed to be influenced by the lower Return to Player (RTP) rates recorded in February 2024 when compared to the same period in the previous year.
