Sandrock Gaming Unable to Attend Rocket League Championship Series Winter Major Due to Visa Issues

Saudi Arabian team Sandrock Gaming will not be able to attend the upcoming Rocket League Championship Series Winter Major due to visa issues, the organizers confirmed in a social media post. The tournament, which will be held in Los Angeles, will proceed as planned with 15 teams instead.

Visa Issues Prevent Sandrock Gaming from Traveling to the United States

In a statement, Psyonix, the developer of Rocket League, explained that Sandrock Gaming’s inability to travel to the United States is due to both personal reasons and complexities in the visa process. Despite their best efforts, Psyonix stated that the circumstances were ultimately beyond their control.

Tournament Continues as Planned with 15 Teams

The event schedule and format for the RLCS Winter Major will remain unchanged. Sandrock Gaming will be granted “Did Not Participate (DNP)” status and receive 120 RLCS Points. Group D, where Sandrock Gaming was placed, will continue as a three-team group.

RLCS Winter Major Offers Prize Pool and RLCS Points

The RLCS Winter Major begins today and concludes on Sunday, March 27. The participating teams will compete for RLCS Points based on their placement in the tournament. The winning team will receive 701 points and a prize of $90,000.

RLCS Points are crucial for Rocket League professional teams as they determine qualification for the World Championship, which is scheduled to take place in July in North America.
