Rocket League Sets New Record on Their Biggest Night

Epic Win for Rocket League at The Game Awards 2015

Psyonix Studios’ hugely popular car soccer game, Rocket League, made history last Thursday night at The Game Awards 2015 by winning two major titles. To add to the excitement, they also revealed the world premiere for the Xbox One version of the game.

After only five months of rocket-powered car action, Rocket League gained immense attention and was nominated for “Best Independent Game” and “Best Sports/Racing Game” at The Game Awards 2015. But the surprises didn’t stop there – Rocket League came out victorious in both categories.

A panel of 30 judges from reputable media outlets such as Associated Press, USA Today, Yahoo!, and VICE selected Rocket League for these awards. This decision was made before The Game Awards announced the winners, and the developers at Psyonix were thrilled to hear the panel’s final verdict.

Since its release, Rocket League has become a sensation in the eSports scene. The game has been featured in online tournaments organized by the Electronic Sports League and GameBattles, attracting hundreds of competitors from Europe and North America. While the main format of competition is 3v3, players can also engage in 1v1 and 2v2 matches.

But there’s more exciting news. Psyonix has unveiled a world premiere trailer for the Xbox One version of Rocket League, much to the delight of fans. Though the exact release date is unknown, the developers have confirmed that the game will hit Xbox One this February.

Some fans, particularly PlayStation 4 users, were disappointed to learn about Rocket League’s expansion to Xbox One. This raised the question of cross-platform gaming compatibility. It remains to be seen how Psyonix will address this in the coming months.

For an indie game, Rocket League’s success in just five months is remarkable. With more developments expected in early 2016, the game is set to continue its rise in the eSports world.
