Psyonix Increasing Investment in Rocket League Esports for 2017

Psyonix plans to ramp up its investment in Rocket League esports this year, following the success of its first two seasons of the Rocket League Championship Series. More than $2.5 million will be allocated to Rocket League esports, with over $1 million dedicated to total prize pools, including $300,000 for the RLCS. Additionally, Psyonix will organize onsite events at major gaming conventions like PAX and South by South West. The company also aims to expand its support for community-run tournaments and weekly tournaments in Europe, North America, Oceania, South America, and other regions.

New Opportunities for Rocket League Players

Psyonix plans to introduce a “true” collegiate Rocket League esports program in 2017, building upon the Rocket League Collegiate Spring Showdown held in the previous year. Xbox One players can also look forward to new tournaments designed specifically for them, as part of Psyonix’s commitment to making Rocket League esports accessible to everyone. In addition, Psyonix intends to host charity tournaments as part of its expanded esports plan.

Upcoming Enhancements and Features

This year, Psyonix will implement in-game features and enhancements for Rocket League, although specific details have not yet been disclosed. The esports hub on the Rocket League website will also be redesigned to provide comprehensive information, ensuring that players and fans stay updated on the latest developments in the scene.
