NRG Acquires SquishyMuffinz, Replaces Turbopolsa

NRG Signs Squishy Muffinz for Rocket League Team

NRG has added a powerful player to its Rocket League team. Mariano “Squishy Muffinz” Arruda has joined NRG after Cloud9 disbanded its Rocket League lineup. Squishy will replace Pierre “Turbopolsa” Silfver, who has been moved to NRG’s inactive roster.

Squishy’s Accomplishments

Squishy is highly accomplished in the Rocket League circuit and has won several championships. During his time with Cloud9, the team secured first place in RLCS season four for North America and won their first RLCS World Championship in 2019, defeating the previously undefeated Dignitas.

Turbopolsa Benched

NRG made the difficult decision to move Turbopolsa to the bench. The organization cited a decline in the team’s performance after RLCS 8 finals and a disappointing string of tournaments in 2020 as reasons for the decision. The official announcement can be found here.

NRG Roster Update

Squishy joins the NRG roster alongside teammates Garrett “GarrettG” Gordon and Justin “Jstn” Morales, as well as coach Emiliano “Sizz” Benny. Turbopolsa has been moved to the inactive roster, where he will serve as a reserve player and likely not immediately join another team.

The reasons behind Cloud9’s departure from the Rocket League esports scene remain unclear. The organization’s official announcement does not provide an explanation and states that the remaining players and coach have been released from their contracts.
