Competitive Warning Issued by Psyonix: Scrub Killa and Guild Esports Violate Rocket League Esports Communication Rules

Competitive Warning Issued to Guild Esports and Scrub Killa for Violating Rocket League Esports Guidelines

During the Rocket League Championship Series Fall: Europe Regional Event Two, Scrub Killa from Guild Esports violated the game’s communication guidelines by leaving his team’s voice channel to talk with caster and streamer Adam “Lawler” Thornton.

Violation of Communication Guidelines

Scrub Killa joined Lawler’s call during a game, which surprised Lawler during his own streaming party. However, Scrub was promptly kicked from the channel. Despite the violation, Guild Esports went on to defeat Team Liquid 3-1 in the mid-series.

Immediate Disqualification Risk

Rocket League Esports communication guidelines strictly prohibit any communication with anyone outside of an ongoing match. Any team or player found breaking these regulations may face immediate disqualification from the event.

Coach’s Attempt to Resolve the Issue

Guild’s coach and manager, Mike “Gregan” Ellis, messaged Scrub over Steam and requested him to mute or leave the call, knowing that the violation was occurring. This quick intervention aimed to prevent the issue from escalating.

Despite Lawler kicking Scrub from the voice chat, the damage was already done. However, Psyonix only issued a warning to Scrub and Guild as no competitive advantage was gained from the actions. Further violations will result in disqualification.

Response from Guild Esports

Guild Esports released their own statement, acknowledging the actions of Scrub and stating that they are currently evaluating appropriate actions.
