New Major Order in Helldivers 2 Presents Players with a Moral Dilemma

Helldivers 2 players who logged on today were presented with a stark moral quandary as part of the game’s most recent Major Order: save the youngsters hiding in a hospital or risk your lives rescuing stranded Anti-Tank mines. Which one will benefit Sweet Liberty in the long run?

The Grand Stage of the Galactic War.

The latest Helldivers 2 Major Order is underway. Players must aim for one of two planets: Vernen Wells or Marfark. Thousands of super people are confined inside a children’s hospital on the former, while the latter has much-needed Anti-Tank mines, which would increase Democracy’s chances against the never-ending danger of socialist Automatons and tyrant Terminids. Eager Helldivers will have to select between the two and decide who is more valuable in the big scheme of the Galactic War.

The moral dilemma

The Major Order verifies that only one of the two worlds, along with their contents and population, may be rescued. Players have already begun devising trolley problem memes on Reddit and discussing perhaps the biggest moral dilemma thus far. One user created an image where the children of Vernen Walls are shown as several potential casualties, whereas rescuing the weapons would kill far fewer people but net Super Earth exceptional bombs. “Watch the community derail it and kill both,” another user jokingly said. And Helldivers are notorious for wreaking havoc and killing billions of people in order to achieve nothing.

Helldivers 2 continues with its live service, giving players Major Orders left and right. The balancing concerns remain unclear, and the Arrowhead team is working hard to resolve them. Despite numerous teasers in recent months, the game has yet to acquire its new group, and we can only wonder what moral quandaries await us in the near future.
