The recent update to Helldivers 2 focused on enhancing the game’s balance. Various weapons, enemies, and Strategems underwent adjustments in terms of either nerfs or buffs. Additionally, gameplay underwent certain changes, allowing a mission that was previously limited to low-level players to be played on higher difficulties.
Weapon and Enemy Adjustments
Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.300 brought about alterations to around a dozen weapons, Strategems, and enemies within the game. Notably, the CB-9 Exploding Crossbow received a significant update. Its magazine size and explosion radius were decreased to offset an increase in muzzle velocity and resupply capabilities. The BR-14 Adjudicator received a general buff, while the SG-8P Punisher Plazma underwent similar tweaks as the Crossbow. High Armor suits now provide headshot protection, and the damage incurred by burning Helldivers was reduced by 15 percent. Other weapons were subject to minor rebalancing as well.
Enemy and Gameplay Adjustments
The latest update introduced changes to several Automaton enemies in the game. Hulk Scorchers and Gunship spawners now deal less fire damage and spawn fewer Gunships, respectively. Regular Hulks, Devastators, Gunships, and Scout Strider Riders received buffs in terms of damage, movement speed, and explosion resistance. The changes to the Bot enemies were more of a shift rather than a straightforward buff or nerf. Additionally, bugs like Bile Spewers and Nursing Spewers were slightly slowed down. The frequency of enemy patrols spawning was increased when playing solo on high difficulties, making the game more challenging.
The Spread Democracy Mission on Higher Difficulties
One of the intriguing gameplay adjustments was the inclusion of the Spread Democracy mission on higher difficulty settings. This mission involves raising the banner of Liberty at various locations on the map and was previously confined to low-level gameplay. Now players can engage in spreading Managed Democracy at any difficulty level, leading to patriotic moments and meme-worthy experiences.
