Rumor of Sony Acquisition Denied by Arrowhead CEO
There has recently been a rumor circulating that Arrowhead, the studio behind the game Helldivers 2, has been acquired by Sony. However, Arrowhead’s CEO, Johan Pilestedt, has come forward to deny these rumors and confirm that Arrowhead Game Studios remains an independent entity.
Origin of the Rumor
On March 5, a rumor began on X (formerly Twitter) from a gaming account, claiming that Arrowhead Game Studios had been acquired by Sony. This rumor gained significant traction on the platform, possibly due to the fact that Sony had previously published both Helldivers 1 and 2. However, just a day later, Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead and the creative director of Helldivers 2, responded to these rumors and jokingly stated that they were fake.
By debunking the rumor, Pilestedt clarified that there had been no such acquisition by Sony, and Arrowhead Game Studios remains an independent studio.
