Wipe event propels Tarkov ahead of Minecraft on Twitch’s Top 10, GTA claims gaming crown to conclude 2022

Tarkov’s Viewership Surges on Twitch in December 2022

Since its release in 2016, Escape from Tarkov has consistently attracted decent viewership numbers on Twitch. However, the popularity of the game tends to fluctuate throughout the year based on streamers and events.

The end-of-year pre-wipe event in Dec. 2022 saw a significant surge in viewership, surpassing previous expectations.

Data compiled by Rainmaker.gg reveals that Tarkov experienced a massive 455 percent increase in viewership, surpassing all other games within the top 10. A staggering 39 million hours were spent watching the game, far exceeding the previous month’s numbers.

As a result, Tarkov became the eighth-most-watched game on Twitch that month, trailing behind Overwatch 2, Fortnite, Warzone, VALORANT, League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and the top-ranked title, GTA.

Pestily emerged as the top contributor, with his channel alone accumulating around 8 million hours watched in Dec. 2022. LVNDMARK wasn’t far behind with 5.3 million hours watched. Following closely were stylishoob4 with 1.1 million hours, and fps_shaka with 931,000 hours.

This was an incredible way for the challenging shooter game to conclude the year, and the developers should be pleased with its overall performance in 2022. Tarkov ranked as the tenth-most-watched game on Twitch, amassing 345 million hours of viewership, with a peak of 690,725 concurrent viewers and an average of 39,370 viewers.

The highest viewership peak occurred in December during the wipe event, but January and June were also strong months, according to TwitchTracker. If Battlestate can continue to create thrilling experiences throughout the year, there’s a good chance Tarkov’s viewership will climb even higher in 2023.
