The Insanity of Florida in Real Life Makes GTA 6’s Parody Efforts Seem Pointless

Grand Theft Auto 6 Set to Parody Florida in Vice City

The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 has finally been revealed and will be released in 2025. This time, the game will parody the state of Florida with Vice City as its setting.

In light of the absurdity of real-world events, the comedic take on these happenings in GTA may seem less farfetched. The evidence can be seen in the game’s reveal trailer.

As highlighted by @CGHchannel on Twitter, the reveal trailer clearly references events happening in Florida. In the world of GTA, the state where Vice City exists is called Leonida, making it the perfect target for parody.

At least four moments in the trailer are based on real-world events, as shown in the post below. Florida itself is already a meme, and GTA 6 will surely shine a spotlight on the “Florida Man” stereotype.

In reality, Florida embodies some of the worst stereotypes of American culture, making it an ideal subject for Rockstar Games to lampoon in Vice City and its surrounding areas.

Don’t be surprised to encounter an ex-celebrity like Ronald Rump living in his island mansion, or to work for a corrupt far-right politician named Jon SeDantis, who aspires to become president.

As the real world becomes increasingly frightening and absurd, it will be fascinating to see how far GTA 6 goes in parodying a world that seems like a parody of itself. Look out for the release of GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.
