The Absurdity of Real-life Florida is a Perfect Parody for GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto 6: A Parody of Florida Coming in 2025

The long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally here, set to release in 2025. The game takes place in Vice City, a fictional representation of Florida that promises to deliver a comedic take on real-world events.

In today’s world, where reality has become increasingly ridiculous, GTA’s satirical interpretation of the world may not be so farfetched. The evidence lies in the game’s reveal trailer, which features blatant references to happenings within the state of Florida.

The game’s setting, called Leonida in the world of GTA, provides ample opportunities for mockery. Florida itself has become a meme, and the game will undoubtedly capitalize on the “Florida Man” trope.

Four moments in the trailer directly reference real-world events, as pointed out by Twitter user @CGHchannel. Florida, known for its extreme and often bizarre culture, will undoubtedly be the subject of much satire in the game.

Rockstar Games will take full advantage of Vice City and its surrounding regions to skewer both the state and the country as much as possible. Expect to encounter an ex-celebrity named Ronald Rump, living on his island mansion, or take on missions for a corrupt far-right politician named Jon SeDantis who has presidential aspirations.

As the real world becomes increasingly absurd, it will be fascinating to see how far Grand Theft Auto 6 goes in parodying a world that already feels like a parody of itself. The game is set to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.
