Streamer Faces Backlash for Racist Rant During GTA Roleplaying Stream
Grand Theft Auto has a thriving online roleplaying community, with many streamers who broadcast their gameplay live. However, one streamer has recently come under fire for making racist remarks towards a viewer during a stream.
The incident was captured in a clip shared on Reddit on Jan. 12. In the clip, the streamer, named Viviana, can be heard saying, “You’re white, you’re caucasian, you never will have any fucking personality.” This comment was made in response to a viewer who had criticized the way she speaks. Viviana felt it was unfair and expressed her anger towards the viewer.
Viviana further insulted the viewer by saying, “Your name is literally fucking James, like that is the most pasty fucking name I’ve ever heard in my whole entire life. No personality, no culture, no hairline.”
As a consequence of her comments, Viviana has been banned from No Pixel, a popular GTA roleplaying server.
She has also reportedly deleted her Twitter account, as well as many of her clips and streaming VODs. It is important to acknowledge that while it is understandable to get angry at disruptive viewers, it is crucial to be mindful of the things said during a stream, as they can be shared and have lasting consequences.
Many people in the comments emphasized that insulting someone based on their race is racist, by definition. Additionally, viewers pointed out that there are many famous black individuals with the name James, such as James Earl Jones, James Baldwin, and James Avery, among others.
Viviana does not appear to be ready to apologize anytime soon. She even tweeted, “reverse racism doesn’t exist,” before deleting her Twitter account.
Another Twitter user shared a longer version of the clip, in which Viviana can be heard referring to the same viewer as a “communion cracker” during her rant.
