Grand Theft Auto V has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling over 140 million units since its initial release more than seven years ago.

GTA Tops Take-Two Interactive’s Best Sellers List in 2020

In their recent earnings report, Take-Two Interactive announced that GTA was one of their best-selling games in 2020, selling more than 20 million copies. This marks the highest number of copies sold in a calendar year since the game’s launch.

Continuing Success of the Latest GTA Installment

The latest installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise has consistently delivered impressive results, remaining a popular title across multiple generations of consoles. Initially released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, Rockstar and Take-Two have announced plans to release the game again for the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, similar to the previous launch for PS4 and Xbox One X.

Sales for GTA V show no signs of slowing down. The NoPixel 3.0 server, a third-party roleplaying mod, recently brought the game back to the top of Twitch. NoPixel allows players and streamers to engage in roleplaying within the game, offering a variety of new features to enhance the experience.

Increased Popularity of GTA Online

In 2020, more people played GTA Online than any previous year. As the online component is a major selling point of GTA V, PS5 users will have the opportunity to download the standalone Online component from the PlayStation Store for free within three months of the game’s PS5 release later this year.
