Game Developers Respond to Critics Analyzing Graphics in Leaked GTA 6 Footage

Internet Critics Slam GTA VI’s Development Graphics

GTA V, a game that has spanned three generations of consoles, was released almost a decade ago in 2013. Fans anxiously await any information about GTA VI, the newest installment in the franchise.

On September 19th, a hacker known as “Teapot” leaked over 90 videos from GTA VI’s early development stages to GTAForums, resulting in outcry and serious legal action from Rockstar Games, involving the FBI.

One of the main criticisms that emerged from the leaked footage was the subpar graphics and overall visuals in GTA VI.

Twitter Storm Over Game Development Graphics

One Twitter user made a comment that sparked a storm of criticism on Twitter and the internet. The user, @Design4Mind317, claimed that since graphics are one of the first things developed in a video game, the visuals in GTA VI looked “ass.”

This comment offended game developers around the world, who defended their work and proved why armchair game developers should think twice before criticizing.

Paul Ehreth, the lead designer of the award-winning game Control, shared footage from the beginning of its development, emphasizing that all games start as fragments and require years of hard work to refine.

Other industry figures, such as Sam Barlow, director of Immortality, and the official Twitter handle of Cult of the Lamb, shared early versions of their games to demonstrate how bare-bones they looked during initial development stages.

It is clear that game developers take great pride in their work and won’t tolerate unfounded criticism.

Hell hath no fury like a game dev’s scorn, apparently.
