2021’s Most Downloaded PlayStation Games: Fortnite, NBA 2K, FIFA, and GTA V

Sony Reveals Top Downloaded PlayStation Games of 2021

Sony has released its lists of the most downloaded PlayStation games from 2021. The lists include the top downloaded games for PS5, PS4, and PS VR, as well as the most downloaded free-to-play games for PS4 and PS5.

Free-to-Play Games

In the free-to-play category, Fortnite took the top spot globally, ranking first on both the North America and Europe lists. Call of Duty: Warzone and Rocket League followed closely behind, with Warzone coming in second in North America and Rocket League claiming the second spot in Europe. Surprisingly, Splitgate secured the fourth position on the North America list, surpassing big titles such as Apex Legends, Genshin Impact, and Destiny 2.

Purchasable Games

In Europe, FIFA continued its dominance with FIFA 22 taking the top spot for both the PS4 and PS5 most downloaded lists. FIFA 21 also made it to the top five on both lists. In North America, sports titles were popular, with Madden 22, NBA 2K22, and MLB The Show 21 all ranking in the top 10 for both PS4 and PS5.

Call of Duty had another successful year, with Vanguard securing the second spot on both the North America and Europe lists for PS5 games. Cold War also made it to the top five for both regions in the PS4 category. Single-player games thrived on the PS5, with titles such as Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil: Village, and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla appearing in the top 15.

VR Games

In the virtual reality category, Beat Saber dominated, claiming the first position on both the North America and Europe lists.
