What to Expect from Fortnite’s Upcoming v8.30 Update This Week

The wait is over: Fortnite v8.30 update arrives tomorrow

The highly-anticipated Fortnite: Battle Royale v8.30 update is finally here! Epic Games has announced that the server downtime will start at 4 am CT tomorrow, and we might see the patch notes released at the same time.

In a bit of a surprise, the v8.30 update has been delayed to tomorrow, instead of the usual Tuesday release.

What to expect from the v8.30 update

Epic Games has been keeping most of the v8.30 changes under wraps, but they have given us a sneak peek through past development updates and patch notes. Here are a few changes that players can definitely expect to see after the update is deployed this week.

Reboot Vans: Bringing your teammates back to life

Epic confirmed last week that Reboot Vans will be introduced in Fortnite: Battle Royale with the v8.30 update. This new environmental item allows players to resurrect their eliminated teammates. To use the Reboot Vans, players must collect the Reboot Card of downed allies and take them to any Reboot Van on the island. After a few seconds, all revived allies will respawn on top of the van, one by one.

These Reboot Vans are expected to be available at all points of interest on the Fortnite island.

The Baller nerf postponed

In the v8.20 patch notes, Epic announced that The Baller, Fortnite’s latest vehicle, would receive significant nerfs in the v8.30 update. However, the company has decided to delay these changes for a future patch.

In the upcoming changes, players outside The Baller will be able to shoot the driver through certain parts of the glass. This will make drivers more vulnerable to attacks since they won’t be able to shoot back at opponents.

Epic is likely implementing these changes to prevent excessive defensive strategies in late-game situations, especially with the Fortnite World Cup Open Qualifiers approaching. However, these nerfs won’t be ready for the first week of qualifiers.

Bug fixes and improvements

As always, players can expect a few bug fixes once the v8.30 update goes live. Epic will likely prioritize fixing any issues that directly affect gameplay, especially with the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers starting this weekend.

For the full list of additions, removals, and changes, players will have to wait until the v8.30 update is officially released this week.
