Update on Epic Games’ Plans for the Fortnite Summer Skirmish Series, In-Game Stats Expected Soon

Epic Games Updates on Fortnite Summer Skirmish Series

In the midst of the eight-week Fortnite Summer Skirmish series, Epic Games has shared an update on the competitive community in Fortnite, including interesting statistics, key performers, and tournament formats.

Server Performance and Spectator Experience

In a recent blog post on the Epic Games website, the company addressed the need for improvement in server performance and the spectator experience. Epic acknowledged the difficulty in creating a viewing experience that matches the excitement of playing the game, which has led them to broadcast each player’s stream instead of using the same spectating system as the Celebrity Pro-Am tournament at E3.

Live Stats and Analytics

Epic also recognized the lack of live stats in Fortnite, making it challenging for fans and casters to keep track of who’s winning and who’s chasing down the leader. The company’s analytics team is currently working on a solution to deliver information more quickly during events.

Experimental Formats and Focus on Victory Royales

The Summer Skirmish series has been experimenting with different scoring systems each week, aiming to reward certain accomplishments more than others. Epic emphasized the importance of simplicity, tension, and upholding the integrity of Battle Royale in their competitive ruleset, making Victory Royales the ultimate goal.

Notable Players and Statistics

Epic highlighted some of the most interesting statistics and players in the tournament series so far. TSM streamer Jimmy “HighDistortion” Moreno achieved the longest elimination at 267 meters. Other notable players include Vivid, Dmitri “Mitr0” Van de Vrie, Reverse2K, and Domeniks “Domentos” Bunts, who have gained recognition as stars throughout the competition.
