Epic Games Adds New Compact SMG to Fortnite: Battle Royale
Epic Games has recently been focusing on the submachine gun weapon class in Fortnite: Battle Royale.
In addition to the new Submachine Gun recently added to the game, another SMG is set to make its appearance in Fortnite in the near future, as indicated by a message in the in-game updates tab.
This upcoming addition is known as the Compact SMG, described as an “Epic and Legendary rarity SMG that excels at close-quarters combat.”
With the introduction of the new Submachine Gun on July 17, the Tactical SMG was effectively retired. The Compact SMG is likely being added to replace the previous Epic gun in this weapon class.

In terms of appearance, the Compact SMG bears some resemblance to the FHR-40 submachine gun from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Its physical design can also be compared to the P90 from various Call of Duty titles.
As of now, additional details about the Compact SMG, such as its stats or magazine capacity, are not available. However, being an Epic and Legendary gun in-game, Fortnite players can expect it to deliver a significant punch. Based on leaked audio of the upcoming weapon, it appears that the Compact SMG will have a fast fire rate.
Epic Games usually teases new items as “coming soon” before adding them to the game. It is possible that the Compact SMG will be added to Fortnite very soon, perhaps even this week.
