The First Week of Fortnite World Cup Solo Open Qualifiers

The first week of the Fortnite World Cup Solo Open Qualifiers had a dominant meta of build-edit plays and shotguns rather than The Baller.

Strategies Used in the World Cup Qualifiers

In last weekend’s World Cup Qualifiers, the main strategies focused on good positioning and structure control instead of aggressive build fights. The use of The Baller was not as prevalent as expected.

How Top Fortnite Streamers Performed

Players relied on two loadouts depending on their playstyle. Aggressive players used Pump Shotguns and Submachine Guns for build-edits, high damage with the Shotgun, and finishing opponents off with an SMG if needed. Some also carried Rift-to-Go for late game and Boogie Bombs to deal with opponents in The Baller.

Defensive players carried Shotguns for close combat but primarily used Assault Rifles for longer range engagements. They focused on gaining high ground to safely eliminate opponents and protect themselves from short-range attacks. While Heavy Snipers were not popular, they proved useful for taking down structures and surprising opponents.

Both aggressive and defensive players used similar late-game building strategies, reinforcing one-by-ones with pyramids on the ceiling and floor. This ensured their structures remained intact and protected them from shots below.

Impressive Gameplay in Week 1

The first week of solo competition showcased players making sharp decisions and displaying accurate gameplay through build-edits, short-range combat, and high ground control. The upcoming v8.40 update may bring changes to the meta in the next week’s duos gameplay.
