Popular Fortnite: Battle Royale Streamers Tfue and KittyPlays Take First Place in Fortnite Korea Open
Fortnite streamers Turner “Tfue” Tenney and Kristen “KittyPlays” Michaela emerged victorious in the Fortnite Korea Open, besting other top players and personalities in the competition.
In the Duos main event, Tfue and KittyPlays secured the top spot, while South Korean players SinOoh and Milfy triumphed in the Solos portion. Despite their impressive performances, none of the competitors received any cash prizes.
The tournament featured a prize pool of 1 billion Won (approximately $883,000), which was entirely donated to charity. Certain aspects of the competition, such as highest number of eliminations and best clip, offered 10 million Won prizes, allowing players to contribute to charity in addition to their rankings.
Notable Fortnite players including Tfue, KittyPlays, and Ali “Myth” Kabbani participated in the event, alongside Korean esports legend Lee “Jaedong” Jae-dong. Additionally, actor Chris Pratt was featured in advertisements promoting the event, challenging Koreans to play the game.
Fortnite is set to launch in Korean PC Bangs, which explains the purpose of this event and Pratt’s involvement. South Korea is widely recognized as the most competitive hub for esports, suggesting that we may witness Korean players dominating the Fortnite landscape in the near future.
