Fortnite Update Removes Popular Mechanics
Many Fortnite fans loved the changes made in the v7.40 update, considering it one of the best updates in the game. However, Epic Games decided to roll back some of these core mechanics in the v8.20 update.
One of the mechanics that was removed is the Siphon mechanic, which allowed players to gain 50 health or shield upon eliminating an opponent. Additionally, enemy players no longer drop stacks of 50 of each material when they are eliminated, and the amount of material harvested from the environment has decreased by 40 percent.
Community Reaction
Many members of the Fortnite community expressed their dissatisfaction with these changes. Streamers like CourageJD, Svennoss, and TSM pro player Daequan Loco voiced their complaints about the removal of the Siphon mechanic.
Reasoning and Alternate Modes
Epic Games stated that they reverted these changes because it resulted in an unhealthy level of aggressive play, diminishing other viable strategies. However, players who still enjoy these mechanics can still play with them in the Arena mode and other competitive modes.
