Sony Responds to Criticism of Fortnite Accounts
Sony has responded to criticism from players about their Fortnite accounts being blocked on Nintendo Switch. However, the company failed to address the specific complaints.
Fortnite on Nintendo Switch Has a Successful Launch
Upon the release of Fortnite on Nintendo Switch, fans were extremely excited. The game has already been downloaded over two million times, indicating a successful port.
Players Upset with PlayStation Restriction
However, within hours, some players became angry when they realized they couldn’t use their Fortnite accounts from PlayStation 4 on Nintendo Switch. Even after unlinking the accounts, they were still unable to access their cosmetics or friends list. The only solution for PlayStation players at the moment is to create a new account for Nintendo Switch.
Sony’s Response Falls Short
Sony’s share value dropped by two percent following the backlash from players. When asked for a comment, the company provided a vague response that didn’t address the specific complaints. Sony stated that they are always open to enhancing the gaming experience for the PlayStation community and highlighted that they offer cross-play support with PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices.
However, this doesn’t resolve the issue at hand. While not offering cross-play with other consoles is disappointing, completely blocking customers from using their third-party game accounts on another system is a new problem.
PlayStation 4 is the only console with restrictions when it comes to Fortnite. Players on Nintendo and Xbox One can freely play with each other, as well as with mobile and desktop users. Microsoft has taken advantage of Sony’s stance and openly celebrated their rival’s difficulties.
