Similarity between Fortnite outfits and Overwatch heroes

Fortnite Outfits Resemble Overwatch Characters, Sparks Comparison

If you’ve ever daydreamed about seeing Overwatch elements in Fortnite: Battle Royale, it turns out you’re not alone. Some Fortnite players have noticed that certain outfits in the game bear a striking resemblance to famous Overwatch characters, fueling discussions and comparisons between the two popular titles.

The latest comparison was triggered by the release of the new angel outfit called Ark in Fortnite, which shares similarities with Overwatch’s support hero, Mercy. Both outfits feature a white dress, golden armor pads, white hair, and a golden halo.

While this discovery excited fans, it’s important to note that it’s not the first time Fortnite outfits have been compared to Overwatch characters. The Omega outfit from Fortnite’s fourth season has been likened to cyber-ninja DPS hero Genji, the Arachne outfit resembles sniper Widowmaker, and the Deadfire outfit is reminiscent of cowboy McCree. A user on the Fortnite subreddit even compiled an image featuring these interesting matches.

However, it’s a stretch to claim that Epic Games copied Blizzard Entertainment. The themes of these characters and outfits are commonly used in video games and popular culture. Drawing direct comparisons between specific characters can be subjective and speculative. In fact, Fortnite released its Calamity outfit before Blizzard revealed the Overwatch hero, Ashe.

Despite the debate over copying, players have found enjoyment in the similarities between Fortnite and Overwatch. It adds a new flavor to both games, allowing players to imagine scenarios like playing Overwatch with friends using only Fortnite characters or creating squads in Fortnite with Mercy, Widowmaker, Genji, and McCree.
