Season 8 Update Sparks Complaints from Console Fortnite Players Regarding Poor Performance

Fortnite: Battle Royale Console Players Struggle with Season Eight Performance

Console players of Fortnite: Battle Royale are facing significant challenges in season eight, and developer Epic Games is taking notice.

According to a Reddit user, Fortnite on console is becoming “nearly unplayable” at this point. Epic community manager JustMooney1 acknowledged the reports and encouraged players to provide specific details about their issues to help the development team find a solution.

Several players have shared their experiences with Fortnite on console, highlighting issues with game performance. The overall performance is poor in season eight, with slow gunfights and a framerate that stays around 30 instead of the desired 60 frames per second. Building structures sometimes fail to place, and aiming feels off due to the lower framerate.

Another player mentioned terrible optimization, disastrous aiming, opponents phasing through walls, and building delays when switching from a gun to building structures.

Players have confirmed that framerate drops are even worse in crowded areas like Pleasant Park and Tilted Towers. The game prioritizes rendering player models and important visuals, resulting in poor rendering of buildings and the environment in these areas.

Squads matches also pose performance problems, with some players reporting unplayable framerates as low as 10 frames per second during gunfights. Team Rumble exacerbates the issue with multiple gunfights happening in confined spaces.

Epic Games has yet to announce when performance updates will be released for Fortnite on console, but it is clear that this is an urgent issue. The community coordinator advised players to use the in-game Feedback system to submit complaints under the “Bug” category and to include screen recordings to support their claims.
