Pro players express discontent with Season 8 Fortnite changes ahead of $500K Katowice tournament

Fortnite Season 8 Upsets ESL Katowice Royale Players

Pro players competing in tomorrow’s ESL Katowice Royale tournament are expressing their discontent with the release of Fortnite Season 8.

It has become a pattern that major Fortnite tournaments coincide with game-changing patch updates. Epic Games has once again released a significant patch just before the upcoming tournament, following the precedent set by the controversial Infinity Sword during the Winter Skirmish tournament.

Scheduled from March 1 to 3, the ESL Katowice Royale tournament includes both solo and duo competitions. However, with the new Fortnite season launching less than a day before the tournament, players have little time to adapt to the changes.

Jake “Poach” Brumleve of Team Liquid expressed his disappointment about his favorite drop location being removed. Poach has consistently dropped at the containers area in previous tournaments.

Poach is not the only Team Liquid player who has been affected. Thomas “72hrs” Mulligan, known for dropping in Walling Woods, comically expressed his frustration on Twitter.

Dylan “Dmo” Moore from Ghost Gaming humorously mentioned that playing Sea of Thieves had unintentionally prepared him for Fortnite’s latest pirate-inspired update.

On a positive note, TSM’s Ali “Myth” Kabbani was relieved that his main drop location remained unchanged. Myth will be teaming up with “Cloud” for the duos tournament, who was recently signed for TSM’s Fortntie Jr team.

The ESL Katowice Royale tournament will kick off on the ESL Fortnite Twitch channel tomorrow at 5am CT.
