Predicted Changes in Fortnite’s Upcoming v8.01 Update

Fortnite: Battle Royale’s First Update of Season 8 Coming Soon

The first update for Fortnite: Battle Royale season eight is expected to be released this week, potentially as early as tomorrow. Developer Epic Games typically releases new updates on Tuesday mornings, so players can anticipate some form of content update in the near future.

This upcoming update will likely be version 8.01, following the release pattern of season seven. However, it could also be a v8.00 content update or a major release with version 8.10. The specific version of the update has not been confirmed yet.

While we don’t know the exact version number, Epic and its developers have dropped a few hints about what players can expect in the upcoming update. Some of these hints are confirmed but not specifically for this update.

There will be a new and mysterious item that reveals the location of valuable treasure, and audio tweaks will improve players’ ability to hear footsteps and other important sounds.

Here’s what could potentially change in Fortnite’s upcoming update.

Buried Treasure

A new item called Buried Treasure is expected to be introduced in the next Fortnite update. Epic has revealed that this item, likely a Legendary, will allow players to “scour the island for hidden loot.”

Currently, there are no details about how Buried Treasure functions. It is speculated that the item will reveal the location of a special chest containing Legendary items and valuable resources to aid players during matches.

Audio Improvements

If the sound of Assault Rifle shots bothers you, the upcoming update may provide a solution. Epic plans to implement various sound effects and audio updates to reduce the volume of Assault Rifle shots and adjust the volume of player structures being destroyed.

The developer also aims to enhance the sound of footsteps to help players better understand their opponents’ movements, particularly when they are moving rapidly. Some of these audio changes may be included in this update.

Epic and Legendary Infantry Rifles

Leaks suggest that high-rarity variants of the Infantry Rifle will soon be introduced to Fortnite. The Epic and Legendary Infantry Rifles, compared to their common counterparts, will deal increased damage. According to Fortnite statistics website Storm Shield One, the Epic and Legendary variants will deal 47 and 50 player damage, respectively, without any damage falloff. Additionally, their reload times will be considerably shorter.

We will provide updates on this story as more information becomes available regarding the upcoming Fortnite update.
