Possible Interpretations of the Fortnite Cube Explosion

The Mysterious Purple Cube Explodes in Fortnite: Battle Royale

The purple cube in Fortnite, known as Kevin, cracked and exploded today, marking a new chapter in the game’s lore. This explosion revealed a swirling vortex at the bottom of Leaky Lake, which players were transported to after Kevin dropped a glowing purple stone into it. In this new dimension, a strange-looking butterfly approached everyone, signaling the end of the Fortnitemares special event.

The Butterfly and a Portal Between Dimensions

Upon touching the butterfly, players were transported back to the battle royale map above Fatal Fields. The butterfly’s appearance suggests that it could serve as a portal between different dimensions, resembling a rift itself.

Possible Changes to Fatal Fields

The significance of Fatal Fields in this event is unclear. It may be related to the Visitor rocket launch event in season five, where a piece of the rocket’s engine landed in Anarchy Acres (now Lazy Links), which had the same layout as Fatal Fields. This could mean that Fatal Fields is either undergoing significant changes or being removed altogether.

A New Swamp on the Horizon?

Leaky Lake now features a rainbow and swampy terrain in place of the island and lake. This new area bears a resemblance to Moisty Mire, which was later replaced by Paradise Palms. The presence of the rainbow could suggest the arrival of a new swamp-like area in a future update, symbolizing new life and hope.

Although nothing has been confirmed, it seems increasingly likely that the Fortnite map is on the verge of significant changes.
